Melanie Y.W. Graham

Melanie hails from Vicksburg, Mississippi. Her desire for coaching, mentorship, and teaching began at an early age while employed at the YMCA. She coached various age groups and sports and was a favorite among parents and young athletes with her energetic innovative approach toward teaching the game and sportsmanship.
Immediately after graduation she enlisted in the Army National Guard as a Human Resource Specialist. Her desire to coach carried on into college and fueled her to major in Health and Physical Education. While studying in college she was a top athlete at Alcorn State University and participated in both cross country and track and field. She was awarded the highest honor from her University her senior year, the "E.E Simmons Award". Melanie graduated with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education and a B.A. in General Studies.
After graduation she commissioned into the United States Army as a Logistics Officer. Melanie began coaching Army men and women basketball in 2011 and has since supported her teams to several championships. She has also competed on several teams and helped develop her teammates winning attitudes and winning bodies. She has completed several humanitarian missions and is a highly decorated officer.
Melanie is a exceptionally selfless leader whom volunteers regularly for various organizations and sponsors volunteer opportunities in every community she has lived. In 2014 Melanie received top honors from President Barack Obama in recognition of her volunteer service. She is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated and The Order of The Eastern Star.
While continuing to serve and excel as a multifunctional logistician Melanie completed her Master Degree in Education with an emphasis in Positive Coaching.
Melanie is retired from active duty after 12 years of service in the United States Army. Everyone she interacts with enjoys her upbeat attitude, her wisdom and knowledge. Her advice is actively sought out. Melanie is known for her positive outlook, hard work, and tenacious work ethic.
